It’s not just her fastball that makes Morgan Maxwell lethal, it’s the command, high spin and full arsenal that this exceptional pitcher brings to every game. Maxwell is one of the best left-handed pitchers in the 2027 class and is committed to the University of Georgia.
Despite changes from last season, like losing and gaining new players, Maxwell has done a good job of taking in freshmen and connecting as a team. She not only works hard to achieve all that she has, but she also works hard to make her team feel like a family.
“My favorite part of the season has been being able to develop compression in our team, bringing in new freshmen and making them part of the team. Renting a building seat has been very different from last season. Another main difference from last season is having new people and losing six seniors, you just have to keep going and have the right mentality,” Maxwell said.
Being a successful pitcher requires a lot of focus and a tough mentality. Her team goal for this year is to win the state championship. Maxwell works hard to not only achieve this, but to keep playing better for her future at UGA. Maxwell relies on a good routine before every game and believes in herself to be the best that she can be.
“I play my best by having a warmup routine, playing in the same routine and trusting myself. Having the right mentality makes a huge difference. Advice I would give to future players is to trust the moment and to trust the process. Not everyone’s process is going to be the same, but some will have the same process,” Maxwell said.
Maxwell not only has extreme respect for the sport but is fully committed, she is a true two-way threat. It takes a lot of hard work and skill to compete at a Power 4 level school. Her full arsenal allows her to throw a variety of pitches which generates strikeouts and heavy ground balls. She is excited for her sport to be back in the Olympics and to continue her athletic career after high school.

“Softball being back in the LA28 (Los Angeles 2028) Olympics means a lot because it shows that our sport belongs on the biggest stage,” Maxwell said.
Maxwell’s rare combination of pitching dominance and high-level hitting drew major Power 4 offers before she chose Georgia’s championship-driven culture. She is ranked 1 for Division 8A, 12 Statewide and 124 Nationally.
“Growing up, you dream about moments like that and now it feels real again. It’s not just about competing- it’s about representing the game and proving how exciting and competitive softball really is,” Maxwell said.
Whether it is to win states, connect with her teammates, earn more respect for her sport or to achieve all that she can for her future college career, Maxwell gives her all on and off the field. We wish her luck as she continues to make her team and coaches proud, earning respect for her sport and her athletic abilities as an individual.
