The recommended amount of sleep for teenagers is roughly 6-8 hours. Unfortunately, many teenagers are unable to get this amount of sleep, which causes them to be very tired in the morning. One thing that can help with this is a caffeinated drink to stay energized for the day. With multiple options throughout Winston-Salem, such as Starbucks and local coffee shops, a new shop has arrived in town: Dutch Bros, the new alternative to the recently closed Clutch Coffee.
For those who are unfamiliar with Dutch Bros, it is a drive-thru coffee chain founded in Oregon, with over 1,100 locations across the US, offering customizable coffee and signature “Rebel” energy drinks. Alongside that, they are known for their “brotistas” who provide customers with fast service, a dedicated drink, and an overall fun community.
“The energy drinks are really good, especially the gummy bear one. It reminded me of the Electric Stardust drink from Clutch,” senior Gianna Hennesy said.
With the new location on Stratford Road, as well as many other locations throughout the Triad that are soon to come. It now lets students start their mornings off strong with a fun drink.
“They’re building way too many; it’s going to be overpopulated,” senior Campbell Pitts said.
Due to the new coffee shop opening, it’s been causing a lot of traffic from long lines and making students late to class. A lot of people are stopping there in the morning, even if it means risking being late, which is starting to become a problem.
“I went to Dutch Bros around 7:30 in the morning because I thought the wait was going to be long, but I got out around eight,” junior Kelsey Ina said.
Although all Clutch Coffee locations had been shut down and rebranded into this new Dutch Bros, a lot of Titans found it upsetting that a Clemmons staple had come to an end.
“Even though I’m obsessed with the drink selections at Dutch Bros, I still really miss Clutch Coffee,” junior Iris Haney said.
With the opening of Dutch Bros, especially after Clutch Coffee Bar closed down, it has sparked some conflict among students, but it’s also given everyone a new place to try and enjoy a fun drink during the day. While some people have concerns about things like leaving campus or being late, others see it as something new and exciting that adds a little more to the school routine.
