Every year, the Junior Prom Committee selects three concepts for prom and after the students vote, it will plan out the prom. The voting season for the 2025-2026 school year has now begun, with three beautiful themes for the upperclassmen students to vote on. These themes are:
Fairy Tales: Picture the imaginative stories from when you were a child. This theme brings childhood stories to life, either Disney fairy tales or even the original Grimms’ fairy tales. Dressing up as a beautiful princess or a chivalrous knight will match this charming theme.
A Night in Rio: This theme draws inspiration from the beautiful Rio Carnival in Brazil, which is a world famous celebration that is held every year before Lent and lasts several days. During this carnival, you can see blocos, which are street parties throughout the city and involve dancing and music. Samba schools and community based clubs parade throughout an area called the Sambadrome. These schools and clubs have competitions showcasing large floats filled with people in gorgeous costumes who have carefully curated routines. These costumes are bold and bright in color, often pink or yellow and adorned with ruffles and feathers. These costumes make the perfect inspiration for those who want a prom dress that follows the theme strictly.
Greek Gala: The country of Greece is filled with a rich history. This theme mainly gets people thinking of the Greek Pantheon and the mythological concepts of Greek culture. If you wish to dress up in more modern clothing, you can dress in clothing like karagounas, and for the boys, a cultural outfit includes a foustanella, which is a pleated, kilt-like skirt that is paired with an undershirt called a poukamiso, a vest which could be either a yeleko or meindani, a waist sash called a zonari and unique shoes called tsarouhiags. And for those who want to go as a divine classic an Olympic god or goddess inspired garments would match great.
Voting began for juniors and seniors, on November 4th and will close on Friday, November 7th, at 4 PM. Make sure to cast your vote in time so the Prom Committee can get as many students’ voices and thoughts as possible
