A few weeks ago, the Student Government Association (SGA) winners were announced for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. Not only did these students help to make the school with their classmates’ best interests in mind, but they also hoped to address any concerns around the happenings on campus, making sure everyone feels safe and included.
Freshmen
The students representing the freshman class are Taran Suri, Marshall Hall, A’malarie Crawford and Emma Pert.Â
Sophomores
The sophomore class representatives are Katherine Ballas, Ada Alfieri, Natalie Farmer and Aubrey Leucht.Â
While you are representing your graduating class as their spokesperson, you also still have to be a leader to others, and that includes younger students who may just be starting here at West.Â
“To me, it means being a good role model for my class and also for not only people younger than me but everyone in our school because I represent West, being a good leader and being able to communicate with other people,” Farmer said.
Juniors
The junior class representatives are Kelsey Ina, Lily Hardy, Kate Rajapaksa and Lucy Gardner.Â
School spirit could always improve, and these students are aiming to make more growth within the school’s spirit.

“I wanted to make a positive impact on the school and help organize events for the student body and make it a more spirited place,” Rajapaksa said.Â
While SGA is a student-led organization, there are still teachers who help if there are any issues or a decision can not be made. Being there to help as needed for the students who may have any questions or concerns.Â
“A lot of SGA is supposed to be student-led, so we really let the students come up with the ideas and the different activities that they want to do, and we just kind of push them in the right direction.” Kenley Bentley said.
While it is just the beginning of the school year with new representatives coming in, everyone is excited to get the school spirit to grow and evolve. There is a lot of room for growth that these students will be able to achieve this year.Â
