With Halloween being right around the corner, most kids are going to want to show off their Halloween spirit – and what better way to do that than by dressing up in a costume. Whether you spend ages deciding on a costume or simply buy the first one you see, you’re going to want people to like it. Here is my ranking of some of the predicted popular halloween costumes
4. Gru/Minion:
Starting off the list is a Despicable Me themed costume. Though the release of the newest Despicable Me movie was least recent on the list, which already costs it points on this list. The new Despicable Me movie involves Gru and his family, as well as a couple of the minions, going on the run from a deranged former-colleague-turned-supervillain. The franchise and characters are very well-known and loved, yet that is where the pros end. For me, the reason the Despicable Me franchise is the lowest on the list is because it lacks a feeling of awe or terror that most people would expect of a Halloween costume. The minions, as funny as they are, aren’t what I would consider scary. That doesn’t mean that it’s a bad idea, just not the one that would invoke a feeling of fear.
3. Transformers:
Continuing with franchises that have released new movies recently, The Transformers franchise is next on the list. These metallic titans have been on the big screen since 2007 and the new Transformers One movie released last month on September 20th. The movie goes into detail about the backstories of Optimus Prime, as well as Megatron. However there is a problem with this concept. Similar to the minions, the transformers aren’t exactly scary. While the transformers do have an intimidating figure, they are ruined by their bright and vibrant colors. What would’ve been a perfect halloween costume, a terrifying, towering metal behemoth, is now just a tall, multicolored robot, which is a little disappointing.
2. Venom/Symbiote:
Next up is a potential Venom/Symbiote costume. With the 3rd and final Venom movie coming out only a week before Halloween, it should be clear as to why Venom is 2nd on this list, but if not, let me explain. Venom is a well-known Spider-Man villain who, in 2018, received his own trilogy free from the ‘web-slinger’. Venom is also the ideal costume goal. You want a terrifying monster for halloween? Why not go for a character that is recognisable for its menacing stature and monstrous grin. What about a popular character that everyone knows? Venom, and symbiotes like carnage for that matter are some of, if not the most loved Spider-Man villains. Venom is such a good choice for Halloween, but is held back by its more heroic reputation in the Venom movie trilogy.
1. Beetlejuice:
Rounding off the list for first place, is a beetlejuice costume. The new movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, released on September 6 of this year, and given the fact that it has a horror theme, should be the number one costume pick for halloween. The new movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is a sort of revival of the original Beetlejuice that was released in 1988. The reason as to why this costume basis took first place is because it’s basically perfect. Beetlejuice, and a few of the other characters, are supernatural beings, more specifically ghosts, which is basically the icon of Halloween. While Beetlejuice’s design isn’t necessarily scary, his association with the supernatural, as well as being such a prominent figure in entertainment, is what inevitably led it to win out over Venom.
With that being said, make sure that you stay safe while Trick-or-treating, and don’t forget to show off your Halloween spirit.
