The History of the Zephyr
West Forsyth High School was founded in 1964, and from the beginning, the Titans have strived for greatness. West Forsyth has been consistently ranked among the best public high schools in NC. Named after the Greek word for west winds, the student-run newspaper the Zephyr has been operating since the opening of West Forsyth in 1964. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has ranked the Zephyr among the best student-run newspapers in the country, as they earned Distinction for the last two years, along with multiple writers being awarded for excellence.
Editorial Policy
The purpose of the Zephyr is to inform, influence, entertain and inspire the community of West Forsyth High School. It is the staff’s objective to present information in a fair and accurate manner. The Zephyr welcomes contributions from students, teachers and administrators. All letters must be signed and not exceed a length of 250 words. The staff reserves the right to reject any letter containing libelous material, malicious statements or obscene language and the right to edit for length and grammatical errors. The opinions expressed are those of the author and not of the Zephyr staff.
