October is a month characterized by costumes, candy, and creativity. Downtown Winston-Salem, it’s no different. The owner of the store, CasaShanti, Zachari VanDyne, has been organizing the annual Witches Walk in Downtown Winston-Salem, which plans to mix Halloween fun with a scavenger hunt.
“The goal is simple: to bring people together downtown and create something magical. It’s about celebrating the season, supporting the local businesses and giving everyone a reason to come out, dress up, and have fun,” VanDyke said.
Participants are invited to wear their Halloween costumes on their adventures as they start from the CasaShanti store and move to different participating shops, collecting letters from each. After collecting every letter, participants must unscramble them and if found correct, are put into the CasaShanti Halloween raffle.
“Everyone starts at CasaShanti to grab their game card and the first letter of the secret phrase. From there, they visit each participating shop downtown to collect the rest of the letters. Once they’ve solved the phrase, they bring it back to CasaShanti to enter the raffle,” VanDyke said
Along with the main event of the raffle and walk, other activities are being advertised, such as local street vendors selling goods, live music, tarot card readings, pumpkin painting and of course, trick-or-treating.
“It’s a full experience, not just a walk. There’s something happening at every turn. You might find yourself shopping for crystals one minute, listening to music the next, or getting your cards read under the streetlights,” VanDyke said
The Witches Walk takes place on October 24th from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and admission is completely free.
