As the film industry continues to release more content, theaters have been filled with movie enjoyers ready to watch new feature films on the big screen. Some of the students in the village are among these watchers, many having differing opinions on what movies they’ve watched over the summer.
Superman
When Superman (Clark Kent) gets involved with helping a country he shouldn’t have, Jahranpur, people question if he is a weapon of mass destruction, giving him an identity crisis which Lex Luthor (a smart and rich superman obsessive) uses to his advantage. There were a range of ratings for this movie online and in school and students had many opinions.
“I did not like the Superman actor but they added Krypto which I liked. It was also a lot more comical than the last superman movie. 6/10,” senior Josiah Kolmen said.
That was more of a lower rating. Lots of people didn’t really like the new superman actor but it seems like this person did. This movie is probably one of the best superhero movies that have come out in years. It got some bad ratings though due to people not liking the main actor and wanting the other superman back.
“It (Superman) was better than man of steel. It had a better plot, better acting and more character depth 9/10,” junior Nathanial McAlister said.
The Fantastic 4: First Steps
After Invisible Woman (Sue Storm) has a baby named Franklin Richards with Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards), a being from Outer Space, Galactus, comes to Earth to take him. Galactus knows how powerful Franklin will become in the future so he attempts to take him as a baby and use Franklin to his advantage. This calls the Fantastic 4 to come together and stop him from taking their baby and attempting to destroy the world.
“The Thing was in it and he was clobbering things and Galactus and Mr. Fantastic, he was fantastic. 8/10,” senior Dylan Mason said.
Most people thought this movie was really good but some may have thought otherwise.
“The CGI was awful and the thing could have been blockier and the human torch was a wuss 8.3/10,” senior Jefferson Romero said.
Jurassic World: Dominion
Zora Bennet leads a group of people to the most dangerous place on Earth: Ile Saint-Hubert. In order to change the world’s health department for cancer treatment, the team needed a DNA sample from three different dinosaurs: The Mosasaurus, the Titanosaurus, and the Quetzalcoatlus. But to their surprise the trip went wrong. We asked around to see what people thought of this movie and we got a couple of good quotes.
“The plot was alright. I feel like they could have added a lot more and they had good actors 8.5/10,” senior Jarrion Benson said.
This movie got pretty bad reviews online but according to this quote it’s a good movie. This being the seventh film in the franchise it’s bound to fall off.
“It was okay but it wasn’t as dramatic as the other movies. It was pretty bland and did not have enough action 7.5/10,” senior Ella Fergus said.
Happy Gilmore 2
In the original Happy Gilmore, a hockey player becomes a legendary golfer. Fast forward 30 years while he was in a tournament, he made a fatal mistake when a wild golf shot hit and killed his wife. He quit playing the game of golf for 30 years, but when a new set of golfers try to reimagine golf, the old golfers want to stick with the old ways. Which angers the new golfers, who challenge them to a golf tournament, Where the winner takes golf. We got lots of mixed reviews for this movie. Let’s hear what some people say.
“The plot of it, the funnyness of it and the iconicness. Adam Sandler is one of the best humans 9/10,” senior Audrey Peterson said.
This movie had many mixed reviews based on whether it needed to be made but in the end the people we asked did like this movie.
“The movie was good but not as good as the original. And the actors could have been better but Adam Sandler was cool. 6.7/10,” junior Grant Hoover said.
K-Pop Demon Hunters:
For thousands of years K-pop singers have been hunting demons in their realm, who try to steal the souls of humans. After the most recent batch of hunters, the demons take on human forms and form a rival K-pop group to go against the most recent batch of hunters. That causes the hunters to lose their following and go to the rival group, where they rival popularity. Which makes the hunters form a plan and send the demons back to their realm using the power of music. This movie blew up with multiple songs going top of charts such as “Golden” which hit #1 and “Soda Pop”.This movie blew up the music world being #1 on the charts But oddly enough most people that we asked did not like the soda pop song.
“I liked some of the songs in it but I did not like the “Soda Pop” song due to how popular it got. The animation looked really pretty though 9/10,” senior Katlin Sanders said.
The ratings were really good but a lot of people did not like the songs in the movie but people really liked the story and animation of this movie.
“I was not a fan of the songs. I just don’t like K-pop at all, but the story and animation was done really well 7/10,” sophomore Lilac Roseli said.
