The West Forsyth Soccer team is looking to make a big push for the state championship while being led by senior Captain Ethan Barghout. With the Titans ranked 6th in the North Carolina 8A rankings and 25th in the state, the possibilities are endless for this team. None of this would be possible without the team working well together and working through anything thrown their way, and this is backed up by their team captain, Barghout.
Coach Blake thinks the team’s chemistry is important and will be one of the best he has had in his years of coaching. They work well together and lift each other up on and off the field.
With the team working so well it’s only natural to ask, why did Coach Blake pick Barghout as the captain.
“It was kind of natural to pick him; he’s shown an example throughout the offseason on how he would work with teammates and showed how he would make a great leader for the team,” Blake said.
All this responsibility weighing on Barghout’s shoulders begs the question of how this affects him and his role on the field. To Ethan, this was just a way for him to rise to the occasion and step up for his team.

“I’ve definitely become more of a leader on the team, looking out for everyone and standing up for everyone. I also have to hold a certain standard and bring everyone up to that standard,” Barghout said.
Keeping motivated and staying on track when playing sports like soccer is super important. Without this, it’s hard for an athlete to continue on their path to what they strive to achieve. For Barghout, he plans on continuing to play in college, and his parents are major factors in him playing the best he can..
“My parents have sacrificed so much for me just so that I could continue to play at such a high level. I don’t want to let them down,” Barghout said.
With the season underway, it is expected for the players to have a goal in mind before the end of the season. The goal for Barghout this season is to win, but also create a lasting impact on the team.
“Of course, to be winners and to win the state chip, but I hope to grow as a person and as a teammate. Winning is important, but I hope to be a part of something bigger than soccer, creating a culture and lasting relationships that will outlast them,” Barghout said.
Barghout’s leadership will shine through during his senior season and will lead the Titans far. It’s safe to say that we should expect big things from Titans soccer this season.
