There are some staples when it comes to cafeteria food that are inseparable from high school life; pizza, BBQ and chicken sandwiches are part of what makes the cafeteria so special. However, several changes are coming very soon, bringing both new foods and old flavors to the table.
The most recent change that the cafeteria will have is the replacement of the chicken sandwich line, which will be making way for the new Road Trip line.
“The chicken sandwich line will turn into the Road Trip line,” cafeteria manager Tholasina Harrison said. “There’s going to be different meals from around the United States. You guys are going to get some Cuban sandwiches, some Reuben sandwiches, southwest chicken pizza. You know, that type of thing.”
In addition to this, another line is going to be modified. Earlier this year, students were given the opportunity to vote on whether they wanted a mac and cheese line or a BBQ line. The macaroni came out on top, and the grill line’s options were moved into the short lived ‘Hot to Go’ line. But now, the ‘Hot to Go’ line will return, and the grill line is merging into the mac and cheese line to create a combination of flavors for students to enjoy, which many students are eagerly waiting for.
“I like it man. It’s good, a really good idea. More variety is always good,” senior Ian Liu said.
Several students are already voicing their hopes for what the new line may provide .
“If they can afford to have different varieties of food they can afford to bring bacon back. Because ham is bacon, right?” junior Soren Jones said.
“I think they should add back the sloppy joe, [but] they put too much sauce on it. Just put less sauce on it,” Liu said.
However it is that lunch money gets spent, there’s a flavor for everyone. If one is feeling brave, feel free to try out the new lines and broaden lunchtime horizons. These changes were first implemented on January 27, and will remain until the next cafeteria menu vote. Make sure to make the most of these new options and try new things.
