The city of Winston-Salem is hosting its annual International Village Food and Music Festival in downtown Winston-Salem on Saturday, October 26th. It is from noon to 5:00 pm and admission is free. The festival will be an immersive and diverse experience filled with food, music and fun.
To kick off this festival, there will be a naturalization ceremony where 20 residents of Winston-Salem, representing 17 different countries, will take an oath to become U.S. citizens.
Various types of music and dance from all around the world will be showcased at this event. There will be different kinds of food trucks serving a variety of global cuisine including Jamaican, Filipino, Mexican, Cuban and African foods.
Different aspects of different cultures will be shown at this festival through cultural shows, dances and music. Last year, artists included groups such as Ballet Folklorico of Julio Ruiz, Liontracks Reggae Band and Greek Orthodox Hellenic Dance Troupe.
Many groups sponsor this event in an effort to get the word out as much as possible and highlight the differences within our community. There are sponsors on an international, continental and domestic level such as Yes!Weekly, Novant health, Legal aid of North Carolina and much more.
Guests will also be able to purchase various arts and crafts made by one of the many merchandise vendors, like calligraphy and brow art among other things.
The city of Winston-Salem hopes to have a big turnout full of celebration on Saturday. It promises to be a day full of fun and celebration of our city’s diversity.
