Homecoming is a staple of most high school experiences. Alumni come back to watch their old team face off against a rival on their familiar home turf, while current students attempt to prove that their school rules over all others. The week leading up to the game is often filled with school-wide activities, and none of these is more well known or well celebrated than spirit week.
Following school tradition, students are given a theme every day of the week to dress up in as they see fit. This year, there is a wide variety of themes, meaning that everyone can participate in showing their school spirit. There isn’t a theme for Monday as there is no school.
Tuesday: Flag Day
For this theme, students are asked to dress in a uniquely distinctive outfit that represents the culture of some world country. Or, dress in the color scheme of a country’s flag. Instructors are requiring students to not wear an actual flag.
Wednesday: Generation Day
Once again appearing in the halls, generation day will have students dressing through all stages of life: freshmen as babies, sophomores as toddlers, juniors as adults and seniors as senior citizens.
Thursday: Student/Teacher Swap
This theme is exactly what it sounds like. Students dress as a beloved teacher, while the teachers dress as their students. For juniors, it is recommended that the Generation Day outfit is not reworn, but rather a new outfit put together.
Friday: School Colors
This year is no exception to the tried and true style of wearing school colors on game day. Freshmen should wear white, sophomores should wear yellow, juniors wear green and seniors wear black.
This week will be an opportunity for the students to show up and show off their Titan spirit for the homecoming game. Don’t forget to support the home team as they play against Davie under the Friday night lights.
