Everyone has essentials in their life, as the goalie for the varsity field hockey team, senior Zoey Krause is an essential part of the team. When the opposing team runs full speed toward the net, Krause is the last line of defense. So far, Krause has averaged 10 saves per game this season. This is Krause’s fourth year playing field hockey, and second year on varsity. Originally Krause was only doing field hockey to stay in shape, however, she ultimately chose field hockey over soccer.
“I ended up not doing soccer because I really enjoyed playing field hockey and the environment,” Krause said.
Her teammates have had her back since the start and have supported her all that way.
“When we played RJR my junior year, I had my jaw dislocated in the game and I had to have it popped back in. Because my whole team was there and supporting me, I was able to go back in the game,” Krause said.
Krause’s next steps for field hockey since her high school career is scouting out colleges, since her time is winding down as a senior.
“I am thinking about playing field hockey in college. I have a few colleges that have reached out to me, but I also have a difficult decision to make since my dream college does not offer field hockey,” Krause said.
Krause has had a successful career at West and her accomplishments playing field hockey are astounding and continue to grow.
