As if one record breaking season wasn’t enough, Titan running back Caman Chaplin put together an even greater season this year en route to being named the Male Athlete of the Year. Athlete of the Year is an award given to a student athlete who has maintained good grades, while also having an outstanding high school athletic career. Looking at his career, Chaplin has blown these expectations out of the water.
“Caman is a very well-rounded kid, and is very deserving of this award. I am very proud of his growth and accomplishments over the past three years,” Head football coach Kevin Wallace.
Chaplin demonstrated his athletic abilities this year by earning his spot on 1st team All Conference as well as 1st team All Northwest this past season. He was also named Central Piedmont Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the 2024 football season. On top of all of these accomplishments he also broke multiple school rushing records.
“I am most proud of breaking my own record where I ran for 365 yards in one game this year, I set it last year with 350,” Chaplin said.
After the football season Chaplin transitioned into track season where he competes in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m, 4x200m, and shot put. He was one of the senior captains and led his relay to states sophomore year.
“My favorite track moment was when the 4x200m came in 3rd place at states,” Chaplin said.
While earning his spot as Athlete of the Year on the athletics sides he has also maintained a 4.03 GPA. His talent and smarts earned him a scholarship offer from Fayetteville State University, where he will be playing football and studying engineering next year.
“ I am very grateful to be able to play in college, and I am excited for the overall experience and the atmosphere at an HBCU,” Chaplin said.
Chaplin earning Male Athlete of the Year recognizes his impressive accomplishments across multiple sports and the legacy he leaves behind as a Titan.
