From Eiffel Towers to croissants and everything else Parisian, this year’s Prom theme hopes to transport students to a true “Evening In Paris.” A night commonly deemed the “most unforgettable night of your high school career” has many students anticipating, planning and preparing for the enchanting event.
“This will be my senior prom, so I really want to go all out and lean into the theme a bit more than I did last year. I have a super classy black dress and just booked my hair appointment… I’m getting excited and hope we can make this a night to remember,” senior Azahna Williams said.
The Junior Prom Committee has worked extra hard this year to make the “Evening in Paris” come to life.
“We have been meeting since September planning everything from the theme, color palette, decor, prom court royalty wear, the design of the ticket and even making sure to have an awesome DJ this year,” Junior Prom Committee advisor Carla Lovely said.
“This year has been super fun. I love being on the committee because I feel like my voice is heard and I get to help bring in ideas that I know students would like to see at Prom,” junior Kalynn Jones said.
In previous years, the line to enter the Prom seemed to take longer than the time students had inside. Whether this be due to the general layout of the Millennium Center or the amount of staff inside helping move the line. This year, Principal Kevin Spainhour wants to resolve this issue.
“We will have more people checking students in and the official photographer with the backdrop will be gone. Instead multiple selfie stations will be offered. Second, we need to be more intentional about the placing of security on the road across from the Millennium Center. We’re going to put officers on that corner so not only can they see the center but also down the neighboring alley,” Spainhour said.
“The line was annoyingly long last year, so I’m glad they have thought of some ways to get around it… I want more time inside, not on the road,” senior Conner Smitherman said.
This magical evening will take place at the Millennium Center on April 27 from 7 p.m-11 p.m.
