Prom picture season, a big deal and sometimes a struggle for those attending, has finally arrived. Stress levels are high and plans are being arranged. The most common locations to take prom pictures close to Clemmons are Tanglewood Park, Incendiary Brewing Company and Reynolda Gardens. However, anyone who has taken pictures at these places in the past knows that overcrowding is a huge issue. Instead of taking prom pictures at the most popular spots, here are some unique and Instagram worthy locations that are convenient, close and just as captivating.
Old Salem Heritage Bridge (15 minutes away from West, 10 minutes away from the Millenium Center)
Old Salem Heritage Bridge is one of the most recognizable sites in downtown. Located directly over Old Salem Road, the bridge is surrounded by houses filled with history and gardens that provide perfect photo opportunities. If you want your pictures to be truly beautiful, then Old Salem is the perfect place for you.
Graylyn Estate (16 minutes away from West, 8 minutes away from the Millenium Center )
Graylyn Estate is a luxury hotel located just a few minutes away from downtown Winston-Salem. The estate houses many walking paths and ponds that are perfect for photo shoots. Photos are only allowed on the outdoor grounds and shoots must be booked with a Graylyn Sales Account Manager, but the results are most definitely worth it.
The Quarry at Grant Park (13 minutes away from West, 10 minutes away from the Millenium Center)
The Quarry at Grant Park, an uncommon location to take some iconic Instagram worthy pictures, offers a tranquil getaway in the heart of Winston-Salem. The park’s focal point is an overlook pier right above the quarry itself. There are several other overlooks that extend above the water, so if you’re having any trouble getting a perfect photo spot, you’ll have plenty of fantastic options.
Dogwood Farms (32 minutes away from West, 23 minutes away from the Millenium Center)
Most well known for their iconic sunflower fields, Dogwood Farms is an extremely spacious and peaceful property that is located in Belews Creek. Conveniently, the opening day for poppies and larkspur flowers is April 27, creating the perfect photo opportunity spot. The admission on Saturdays is $10 per person but if one has hired a photographer they charge $25 an hour of shooting to cover the photographer’s entry fee. A bonus while you’re there is that you have the opportunity to pick your own bouquet for a small fee.
