The score has been tallied and one name has come out on top. Despite teaching at West for only six years, sports marketing teacher Scott Armstrong has already made a lasting impact on the Titan community, earning the resounding respect of his colleagues in the form of the 2023-24 Teacher of the Year award.
Armstrong is a teacher known for his love and passion for his job. Throughout his time in the Village, Armstrong has greatly developed the sports marketing program, establishing many new social media platforms to promote the department to students.
“I start[ed] our sports marketing department with Coach Bullard, where we have a YouTube channel, X account and an Instagram account followed by thousands of students, not just from West,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong is not only passionate, but also highly dedicated and motivated by a desire to help students as best he can.
“As a teacher at West, I want myself to be professional, punctual and committed to students having the most efficient and best year of learning they have,” Armstrong said.
Students recognize the effect that Armstrong has had on the sports marketing program, acknowledging how beneficial the class has been to them in their time at West.
“Sports marketing kept me up to date on all things football and basketball, and I learned how to work Adobe Express and make fun graphics. I also got the opportunity to interview people, which was always fun,” senior Annalise Moody said.
Despite his success, Armstrong was still surprised and appreciative of the Teacher of the Year nod from his colleagues, recognizing the extent of the honor.
“It’s very humbling to get Teacher of the Year,” Armstrong said. “There are a lot of teachers across campus that work really hard and there are many people that could win this award every year, so I’m very honored to be a part of that list of people that have done so here.”
