The year 2024 has finally arrived with a tidal wave of pop culture that is ready to hit the shore. With last year having many groundbreaking moments, this year will be just as entertaining with new music, movies and media. Therefore, here are some upcoming events that will be happening.
Music releases: Although we’ve already started off the year with Kali Uchis new album, “Orquídeas,” there are new releases yet to come. Artist Kanye West will be releasing his new collaborative album with artist Ty Dolla $ign labeled “Vultures” on Feb. 9. Then in March, singer Tyla, who is known for her hit song “Water” will be releasing her first self-titled album on the first of the month. Ariana Grande will also be releasing a new album, “Eternal Sunshine” on March 8, after a three-year hiatus. It is also rumored that artists such as Playboi Carti, Cardi B, Korn and Rihanna could be dropping albums soon.
Coachella: Coachella 2024 will be a mix of nostalgia and modern tunes. You’d expect to see present-day artists like Ice Spice, Lana del Rey, Tyler, The Creator and Ken Carson, but what’s historical is the 1990’s rock band No Doubt making a comeback. The band fell apart due to members going separate ways with their individual careers but decided on performing this year at Coachella. With No Doubt performing, other throwback bands that also have decided to attend including Deftones, Sublime and Blur. Coachella will be happening this year from Apr. 12 to Apr 21.
Usher’s half-time performance: With the previous years having artists like Beyoncé, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Dr. Dre who performed during the half-time shows, this year the NFL welcomed R&B artist, Usher, to hav.According to his set-list that was released on his Apple Music page, he’ll be performing both his current day and throwback songs such as “My Boo” ft. Alicia Keys, “You Make Me Wanna..” and “Good Kisser.” His performance will be broadcasted on all sports channels at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 11.
Met Gala: With a new year starting, the Met Gala unveils a new chapter into fashion. The theme for this year’s Met Gala is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” but the dress code has yet to be announced. The exhibit will feature about 250 rare items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. Spanning over 400 years of fashion history, the pieces will include designs by Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy and many more. Although last year’s hosts were Michaela Coel, Penelope Cruz, Roger Federer and Dua Lipa; this year’s hosts have yet to be announced. The ceremony will be live-streamed on the Vogue website or social media apps such as X and Instagram.
Movie releases: Many films such as “Saltburn,” “Oppenheimer,” “Priscilla,” and “Barbie” came out in 2023 and we can expect another year of fanomince releases. Therefore, here are some movies to watch out for.

With many new releases and events to look forward to, it’ll be an impactful year of entertainment to watch out for. Whether it’s from music to movie releases, you can always look forward to new and exciting moments in pop culture. With these events in mind, make sure to mark your calendars.
