Each year more and more establishments fall on the trend to serve pumpkin spice-flavored coffee. Almost every coffee shop and even fast food chains have adopted the “spicy” coffee trend, so let’s see overall who has the best pumpkin-flavored coffee.
McDonalds ($2.99) Rating:1/5
This drink should be illegal. I have nothing bad to say about regular McDonald’s coffee, but whatever this liquid was it was definitely not appealing. The coffee tasted the way that cigarettes smell, disgusting. I had high hopes since it smelled so good, but the taste could have been more enjoyable, to say the least.
Clutch ($5.35) Rating: 2/5
I wanted to like this; the advertisement made it look so refreshing, but this coffee is comparable to dirty pumpkin bathtub water with spoiled milk soap. I was very disappointed. The flavoring was not at all similar to the classic pumpkin spice flavor. It tasted dirty and the pumpkin flavor was bitter and almost resembled cough syrup. There was also an absurd amount of milk-I don’t even know if this drink would be considered coffee since there was none in there.
Starbucks ($5.95) Rating: 3.5/5
The Pumpkin spice coffee is one of Starbucks’ most iconic drinks they offer. The pumpkin coffee is good, although I haven’t had one coffee that tastes the same. I understand that different people make the coffee each time, but it shouldn’t taste that dramatically different. I order the exact thing every single time. I can go one day and the coffee can taste super strong of pumpkin spice, and then I could go the next day and it tastes like milk with a little bit of pumpkin in it. I just don’t like how it varies, so this rating was hard to give. Overall, it is a decent coffee that I enjoy drinking.
Dunkin Donut- ($4.29) Rating: 4.5/5
This coffee flavor was very present. The drink had a lot of flavoring and the pumpkin spice-coffee ratio was just right. I have gotten this drink multiple times, and the taste and flavoring are always identical each time. Unlike a lot of other coffees, this drink stays consistent, which I appreciate because of how inconsistent other places can be.
The Coffee Mill ($4.75) Rating: 5/5
The first sip of this instantly made me feel like I was a leaf in an autumn tree; this drink is truly a feel-good fall drink. The coffee doesn’t have the basic pumpkin spice taste. It tastes fresh and even the last sip still holds the flavor instead of a sad bland last sip.
You should definitely consider this overview before you decide what coffee you should bring to Thanksgiving dinner or before you think about where to stop for a cup of pumpkin spice coffee before your other fall outings.
