New Releases: Watch out for this summer’s new seasons

There are many exciting new TV released coming out this summer (images from Google).

As the summer days get longer the binge watching can commence. Every summer it is inevitable that there will be new seasons of some of the fan favorite shows released throughout the season.This summer is no different, with a full schedule of releases to look forward to.
“Manifest” – Release date: June 2
This will be its fourth season of Manifest on Netflix. After its cancellation from NBC, Netflix renewed the drama for its final season. The plot line and cast is supposedly the same for the new season, some characters are expected to return. The plot is similar to season one. Without giving too many spoilers it was announced that a different flight will be marked as missing and thrown into the same ominous five year time span as it happened in the first flight in the first season.
“The Idol” – Release date: June 4
This is the pilot season of The Idol. Casting includes Abel Tesafaye (The Weekend), Lily-Rose Depp, Suzanna Son, Moses Sumney and many more. It will be airing on HBO in its first season. The plot line is centered around Jocelyn (Depp) and her claim to fame after a nervous breakdown on her past music tour. She is rising back to achieve her title as greatest pop star in America. This show can give watchers a chance to go on a self exploration while also dealing with a romantic awakening.
“Never Have I Ever” – Release date: June 8
Mindy Kaling couldn’t leave the fans without a fourth season for Never Have I Ever. Highschool senior Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) is ready to graduate and what better way to send her off than a fourth season? This season will be filled with the highs and lows of senior year and of course the bittersweet path to graduation for Devi and her friends. The show is a Netflix series and will be kept that way for this season. If you’re in for a rom-com Devi gives you that chance to live through it with her.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” – Release date: July 14
This Amazon Prime Video favorite is here for the summer. While there will only be three episodes on release day, the next episodes will follow weekly after that. It wouldn’t be summer without our favorite Fisher brothers and Conklin siblings. Season two will be filled with emotions as teens deal with family issues, breakups and the path through highschool. The show’s writer Jenny Han has been giving fans teasers and behind the scenes pictures, and with the exclusive content, the excitement from TSITP fans is growing.
“Heartstopper” – Release date: August 3
Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) are making their romantic comeback for season two of Heartstopper on Netflix this summer, a very much anticipated moment for the newly committed couple based on last season’s last episode. They share their highs and lows of highschool and budding romance together. While the show doesn’t exclusively focus on Nick and Charlie, the relationships and lives of Charlie’s friends are portrayed as well.
“Only Murders in the Building” – Release date: August 8
Season three of this murder mystery will be on Hulu in a few short months. Starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Amy Ryan and many more. When three true crime obsessed neighbors come together while wrapped up in a true crime mystery in their own apartment building. The seasons follow them through their experiences with this mysterious death, starting in season one with the podcast that they created based on their own investigations. Season two follows them through being the suspects of this brutal and bloody murder, and the hope is that the mystery is to be solved in season three. For the true crime junkies, this show is perfect for you. This is a perfect watch if you like to solve your own mysteries.
Overall, there is much to watch out for this summer. Keep those eyes wide and be ready for those rainy days to open up the snack and binge the new releases.
