Event Blurbs: Spring into these events

A few posters for the events coming up soon. Everyone is sure to find something to enjoy.

The sun is shining again, COVID restrictions have loosened and the community is getting back to holding spring activities. Here are a few things happening around town this spring:

Carolina Vintage Mini Comic Con – Sunday, March 13 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This one is for the graphic novel enthusiasts, collectors and even vendors. This year, held at the Village Inn Hotel and Event Center, the event will feature a meet and greet with former WCW, NWA and WWF wrestler George South. This will be accompanied by personal display collections as well as vintage comics, graded comics, comic artwork and authentic PSA/DNA celebrity cards. Admission to the event is $2 and free for kids under 10.

Legally Blonde – Thursday, March 30 – Saturday, April 1 7 p.m.
This year’s school musical will be a rendition of the hit Broadway musical, Legally Blonde. The story follows Elle Woods as she follows love to Harvard Law School, but her passion for justice keeps her there. Admission to the show is $5, all proceeds will go towards the Drama Department.

Southern Charm at the Farm – Saturday, April 23 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
A one day only shopping experience, this event held at Tanglewood Park features creators, makers and artisans from all over the East coast. Over 300 vendors will be set up in booths to sell goods. These handmade creations range from furniture to jewelry to pet products. Admission is $5 and there will be a little something for everyone.

Riverrun Film Festival – Thursday, April 21-Saturday, April 30
An event long held in Winston Salem, the Riverrun Film Festival is a non-profit organization that hopes to bring attention to the beauty of all points through encapsulating cinematography. After being held solely outdoors and online last year, the festival organizers are excited to return to normal showing of both local and international works this spring.

Lewisville Mutt Strut 5k – Saturday May 7 starts 8:30 a.m.
Benefitting the Forsyth Humane Society, the Mutt Strut is the biggest walk/run 5k in the Triad. Starting bright and early, participants have the option to traverse either a one mile stretch or a 5k loop and even have the opportunity to attend virtually. Prices range from $25-$35 depending on the path you take. This fun event is a way to help out the pets in the shelters and gives a good excuse to spend some extra time with your favorite furry friends.

West Forsyth Prom – Saturday May 14
For the most memorable night of the high school experience, Prom is making its return. Of course Prom king and queen will be crowned, alongside a prince and princess. There will be music, dancing, photo booths and fun. Tickets will be on sale for $35 on May 5 and 6 during lunch and after school as well as May 9 – May 12 during lunch.
