Falling in love with fall
The start of the fall season has brought us sweater weather, pumpkin spice everything and of course falling leaves. Everything is just better in the fall. It has always been my favorite season, and it should be yours too.
While summer 2020 was more or less a bust, not much has changed about the fall spirit this year. Starbucks has once again brought back its pumpkin spice flavors, apple orchards are still ready for picking and pumpkin patches are still filled to the brim just for us. But looking past this year, fall usually brings us the Carolina Classic Fair, football games, the start of new school years and of course, as West students, our need for rain boots. Also, you can comfortably wear sweatpants outside now.
When compared to every other season, there is no doubt in my mind that fall is superior. Summer in North Carolina is so hot and humid; I feel like I’m melting. Winter is the opposite. I swear sometimes I think I’m going to freeze off my toes, and I absolutely hate being cold. And spring, oh spring. I can’t breathe! Spring allergies keep me inside so much that I can’t even enjoy the slight thawing and subsequently refreezing every day.
Fall brings some of the best activities to us. Hot cocoa is a fan favorite, especially when enjoyed on a brisk day while cozied up in your favorite sweater. Now, all the teen girls can pull out their worn down Ugg boots (that probably should have been thrown away after the first time they stepped in a mud puddle.) Guys can put on their Patagonia jackets, and pretend they’re so cool because they’re wearing shorts instead of pants. One of my personal favorites is to see all the horrible fake fall decor in every single store. We get it, Hobby Lobby; you don’t know what leaves really look like.
Another great thing about fall is that the bugs leave and go back to whatever level of purgatory they came from. I hate it during the summer when I can’t walk three feet without inhaling a small flying thing. During the fall, they all hide or die! No more bug bites, itchy inflammation or gnats in your eyes while driving.
There’s nothing you can say to contradict my point that fall is an obviously and remarkably better season than any other. To believe anything else would be fall-acy.
